About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicing Technician with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of fiber optic networks through precise splicing, testing, and maintenance while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician.
  • Proficiency with fusion splicing equipment (Fujikura, Sumitomo, or similar).
  • Experience using OTDRs, light source/power meters, VFLs, and fiber certification equipment.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic color codes, network architecture, and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, splice matrices, and construction documents.
  • Experience working in aerial, underground, and indoor fiber environments.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • CFOT or other fiber optic industry certifications.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • Experience with FTTH, FTTX, ISP, OSP, and data center fiber installations.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications construction practices and restoration procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
  • Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic cables in aerial, underground, and inside plant environments.
  • Conduct OTDR, power meter, and fiber certification testing to verify network performance.
  • Interpret fiber optic network designs, splice schematics, and construction prints.
  • Prepare splice enclosures, patch panels, cabinets, and distribution frames.
  • Document splice results, test reports, and as-built records accurately.
  • Identify and resolve fiber network faults and service interruptions.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and customer specifications.
  • Operate bucket trucks, trailers, and other equipment as required.
  • Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and construction crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Participate in emergency restoration efforts, including after-hours and weekend work when necessary.
