About The Position
Amphenol Network Solutions is seeking a Lab Technician to support its growing Optics business at the Morrisville, North Carolina location. The role involves organizing laboratory materials and equipment and preparing, conducting, and collecting data from optical tests. The technician is expected to work with minimal supervision and ongoing instruction. They will work alongside optical engineers and support technical, testing, quality, supplier, and new-product activities.
Requirements
- 1–5 years of technical support experience in a development lab and/or test environment.
- Clear and concise communication skills, including the ability to ask questions to ensure tasks are understood.
- Ability to work successfully with colleagues in close confines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email software.
- Ability to learn new systems and tools, such as Epicor MRP, Teams, Engineering Tools, Dayforce, and Teamwork.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and move 50 pounds occasionally.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in a technical field; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience with fiber cleaving, inspection, and splicing.
- Familiarity with fiber-optic components, optical test equipment, and test setup.
- Technical writing skills.
Responsibilities
- Organize and set up the optical passive product library and supplies.
- Support splicing and testing activities.
- Support customers’ technical requests and new sales opportunities.
- Assist with engineering and testing activities.
- Support quality, supplier, and new-product-release activities.
- Help organize the lab, display room, and storage area.
