About The Position

The Fiber Jetting Technician is responsible for the installation and certification of fiber optic cable systems using compressed air jetting equipment in telecom and data center environments. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of two years of hands-on experience preparing and installing microduct systems, jetting fiber through duct pathways, and certifying completed installations using pneumatic jetting equipment, with the ability to identify and resolve installation faults and maintain accurate as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience installing and jetting fiber optic cable through microduct systems, including pre-installation duct verification, jetting equipment operation, and post-installation troubleshooting.
  • Confined Space Certification Certification
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ensuring quality and safe installation practices.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certification from FOA, ETA International, or BICSI in fiber optic installation (CFOT, FOI, or Installer 1/2 Optical Fiber).
  • Manufacturer-specific training or certification on blown fiber jetting equipment and microduct systems such as Emtelle or Dura-Line
  • BICSI Technician or Installation Certification, Powder Actuated Tools Certification, or CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Manufacturers certifications for installation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Install fiber optic cable through microduct pathways using compressed air jetting equipment, ensuring proper cable fill ratios, bend radius compliance, and monitoring jetting equipment for abnormal pushing force or pressure irregularities throughout the blowing process.
  • Document cable routes, duct assignments, and as-built records upon project completion.
  • Identify and resolve installation issues including blockages, duct collapses, and excessive bends to pinpoint fault locations along the fiber span.
