About The Position

OzarksGo, based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is a telecommunications subsidiary of Ozarks Electric Cooperative. They offer all-fiber gigabit internet and premium television and telephone services to Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma. This is an entry-level position for a Fiber Optic Technician. The role involves understanding basic light transmission concepts, fiber handling guidelines, and documentation, performing basic fiber optic splicing, and using various fiber optic tools. Responsibilities also include safely operating equipment like ladders and bucket trucks, participating in an on-call rotation, utilizing mapping software, communicating professionally, performing construction duties such as buried and aerial drops, and maintaining confidentiality. The position requires supporting company policies and values, and performing other assigned duties. External relationships include supporting subscribers and maintaining good public relations. The job requires general PC abilities, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within a year. The role involves working in various conditions, including inclement weather, with some irregular hours and frequent travel. A physical examination including drug testing is required after an offer of employment.

Requirements

High school diploma is required.
Must be able to operate all equipment normally found in an office environment.
Must have a valid driver's license without violation, which would prohibit insurability.
Must have general PC abilities including Microsoft Office and tablet operating skills.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL within a year of start date.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Rarely lifts up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
This position requires the ability to bend, stoop, or stand, as necessary.
Visual and Audio Acuity - Visual and audio acuity is an essential function of this position.

Nice To Haves

Technical degree or training preferred.
Some experience in outside construction and communication line construction would be helpful.
Background in home construction/remodeling.
Experience with Bucket Trucks.
Experience with trenching/plowing equipment.

Responsibilities

Understand basic light transmission concepts, fiber handling guidelines, and fiber documentation.
Perform basic fiber optic fusion/mechanical splicing.
Use basic fiberoptic tools, including light meters, fiber scopes, live fiber identifiers, and locators.
Safely use ladders, bucket trucks and plows.
Participate in the fiber technician on-call rotation.
Utilize mapping software and account lookup tools for troubleshooting, and documenting work performed.
Communicate professionally and courteously on-site and off-site.
Perform construction related duties including buried drops, aerial drops, and drop pole transfers.
Preserves confidentiality of company issues when relating to staff, customers, and general public.
Supports the Bylaws, guidelines, policies, and philosophies of the company at all times.
Supports the Mission Statement and Core Values at all times.
Shall be required to perform any other duties assigned in order to fulfill the objectives of OzarksGo.
