About The Position

We are hiring for entry level and above technicians who can be a part of the construction phase of Data Centers. You will assist the higher level techs and the team leads in building out the infrastructure to include: pulling cable, pulling fiber, learning color codes, learning how to punch down and terminate fiber, installing cable trays and pathways, and build server racks. This is a career changing role for someone. With this experience you can also become a Data Center technician. This is an ongoing construction site. Over 2.5 million square feet of data center space. This is a huge ongoing construction site. There are a ton of different trades on site. We are looking for technicians who are excited about installing, running, terminating, fiber optic and copper cable for a large on-going initiative supporting one of the nation’s largest technology companies in the US.

Requirements

  • Fiber experience (Installing cable trays, pulling cable/fiber, punch down, termination)
  • Experience working with hand tools
  • Construction experience following blueprints, building, etc.
  • Punctual and team player
  • Able to flexible on hours
  • Must be comfortable with heights.
  • Must show up on time. If late they will send you home. Zero tolerance.
  • Steel toe Boots
  • Hardhat
  • Safety vest
  • Glasses

Nice To Haves

  • Basic hand tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method.
  • Route cable through data center.
  • Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables.
  • Suspend and support cable correctly: Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.
  • Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
  • Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.
  • Terminate low-voltage devices.
  • Follow prints.
  • Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to assemble and mount trays, server racks/closets, and also pulling fiberoptic cable from point a to point b.
  • Build out server rows (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware).
