About The Position

This position is accountable for performing a variety of more complex echocardiographic procedures with expertise, using ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic quality echocardiographic studies under a variety of conditions. Performs EKG's, holter and multi-event monitor applications as requested. Assists the Cardiologist as required. Works under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor. Participates in the rotation of on-call duties and Outreach Clinic involvement with other Cardiac Sonographers as assigned. Increasingly acts as a resource to the Department.

Requirements

  • College Degree - 2 year Accredited Echocardiography/ Ultrasonography (required)
  • Program Accredited Echocardiography/ Ultrasonography Technical/ Vocational Training (required)
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required)
  • If individual has neither accredited program nor 2 year degree, High School Diploma and equivalent experience sufficient to allow for successful completion of either ARDMS or CCI certification required below. (required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International within 18 months of hire or transfer into position (required) Or RDCS-PE - ARDMS Pediatric Echocardiograp within 18 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • RDCS-FE - ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography Merced Clinic only (required)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job. (required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac hemodynamics and palliative/corrective congenital heart surgical procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • College Degree - 4 year Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (preferred)
  • RDCS-AE - ARDMS Adult Echocardiography (preferred)
  • Minimum one (1) year Congenital & pediatric echocardiography (preferred)
  • Bilingual Skills Preferred
