About The Position

Responsible for collecting fares for ferry and airport parking and ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local laws and travel regulations under the general supervision of the Airport Security Supervisor. This role involves determining and collecting appropriate passenger and vehicle ferry fare and airport parking fees, handling large amounts of cash, and performing daily cash reconciliation. The collector will maintain records for ferry passes and frequent user accounts, conduct research on airport traffic, and monitor discounted ferry fare and charge account transactions. Additionally, the position requires providing routine information to the public, informing them of potential ferry delays, and assisting when necessary. Operating a communications radio and answering the telephone are part of the daily activities and emergency response. The role also includes assisting with emergency operations, maintaining the cleanliness of the walkway and surrounding area, and managing inventory of office supplies and forms for the booth and ferry. Basic cleaning of the booth is also expected. This position may also involve providing instruction to other employees in similar roles and performing other related duties as directed by Airport management.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and determine and count appropriate amount of change.

  • Basic computer skills in Excel and WORD.

  • Physical acumen to shovel and / or pick up litter and wash windows.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • General office and/or cash handling experience is required.
  • Any combination of related education and/or related experience will be considered if the candidate possesses the demonstrated ability.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the day-to-day operations at the airport in order to properly relay information to personnel and the public, especially when challenging situations arise.
  • Inform public of any potential ferry delays and provide assistance when necessary.
  • Operate communications radio and answer telephone as needed in day-to-day activities and emergencies.
  • Assist with emergency operations such as phone calls to mutual aid and tenants.
  • Maintain walkway and surrounding area free from litter and snow and ice as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and forms for booth and ferry.
  • Perform basic cleaning of the booth.
  • Provide instruction to other employees of this or a similar job classification in all aspects of procedure and technique relating to the duties required by this job description unless such instruction requires a specialized certification which the employee doing the training does not have.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Airport management.
