About The Position

This job applies to TSPC licensed elementary multi-subject and special education teachers, unless otherwise identified by a specific teaching assignment in an alternate job description. Additional responsibilities and qualifications may be added for a specific position by the supervisor. The role involves understanding how learners grow and develop across various domains, designing and implementing developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences that promote critical thinking, creativity, collaborative problem-solving, and mastery of curriculum content. The teacher is responsible for ensuring inclusive learning environments that are mindful of individual differences and diverse cultures, creating environments that support both individual and collaborative learning, and using a variety of instructional strategies to foster deep understanding. Key duties include implementing Common Core and District adopted curriculums with fidelity, communicating student progress to parents, utilizing multiple assessment methods, and establishing classroom procedures for behavior management while maintaining respect. The position also requires setting rigorous learning and behavior goals, engaging in professional development, supervising volunteers and paraprofessionals, maintaining student safety, accurate records, and confidentiality. Adherence to professional boundaries, effective use of technology for instruction, and compliance with all District policies, supervisor directives, state, local, and federal laws, TSPC standards, and Oregon Administrative Rules (including Mandatory Reporting) are essential. The teacher must maintain appropriate licenses and training hours. Specific experience working effectively with high behavior students to teach regulation, collecting and analyzing behavioral data for individual students and school-wide systems, and working in a special education setting, including FBA writing, are also required.

Requirements

  • TSPC licensed elementary multi-subject and special education teachers
  • Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations
  • Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the SDS sheets
  • Student safety and security
  • Experience working effectively with high behavior students helping to teach regulation
  • Collecting and Analyzing behavioral data for individual students as well as school-wide systems
  • Experience working in a special education setting including FBA writing
  • Maintain appropriate licenses and training hours as required to implement this position

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences which allow learners to use critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving and promotes mastery of curriculum content.

  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, techniques, and discussions which promote a deep understanding of content areas and their connections.
  • Implement Common Core and District adopted curriculums with fidelity, rigor, purpose, and planning.
  • Communicate student progress and concerns with parents/guardians.
  • Understand and use multiple assessment methods to engage learners, monitor learner progress, and guide instruction.
  • Implement classroom procedures that foster management of student behaviors while maintaining respect and rapport.
  • Set rigorous learning and behavior goals for students.
  • Grow and develop professionally to ensure current methodologies are being used and professionalism is demonstrated.
  • Supervise and support volunteers, paraprofessionals, and others in a positive way.
  • Supervise students and assist in maintaining a safe environment at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate both written and verbal information effectively.
  • Uphold regular attendance at work and work activities.
  • Attend work dressed and groomed in a neat, clean, appropriate manner for the assignment and work setting.
  • Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to a student, family, colleague, or district patron.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with students, including use of appropriate language, appropriate physical contact, and the use of technology such as email, text messages, or social networking internet sites.
  • Effectively use technology including internet, email, and electronic communications to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Follow all District and supervisor policies and directives.
  • Comply with applicable state, local and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Adhere to all standards established by Teachers Standards and Practices Commissions (TSPC) for the Competent and Ethical Educator.
  • Adhere to all Oregon Administrative Rules, related to licensed educators inclusive of Mandatory Reporting.
  • Maintain appropriate licenses and training hours as required to implement this position.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
