About The Position

The ETSU Department of Internal Medicine is seeking qualified faculty members to serve as Site Director for various clinical rotation sites within the Department of Internal Medicine Fellowship Programs. The Site Director provides leadership and oversight of the fellowship educational experience at the participating clinical site and serves as a key liaison between the fellowship program, site faculty, and clinical leadership. This is a temporary, part-time appointment.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or other degree appropriate to the specialty and institutional requirements.
  • Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment in the jurisdiction in which the participating site is located, as applicable.
  • Active faculty appointment with the Department of Internal Medicine
  • Board certification in the applicable specialty or subspecialty

  • Knowledge of graduate medical education principles and fellowship program requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable accreditation standards, institutional policies, and requirements governing fellow education and supervision.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise within the applicable specialty or subspecialty.
  • Ability to effectively teach, supervise, mentor, and evaluate fellows.
  • Ability to assess learner performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective educational processes and documentation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience and expertise in the applicable specialty or subspecialty.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching, supervising, mentoring, or evaluating residents, fellows, medical students, or other healthcare learners.
  • Ability to identify and address educational, performance, patient safety, and learning-environment concerns.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with program leadership, faculty, clinical staff, and institutional stakeholders.
  • Commitment to professionalism, patient-centered care, quality improvement, patient safety, and fellow well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the fellowship educational experience at the participating site.
  • Provide and/or coordinate appropriate clinical supervision, teaching, mentorship, and evaluation of fellows.
  • Monitor fellow clinical and educational experiences to ensure alignment with program goals, curriculum, and applicable accreditation requirements.
  • Coordinate site-based educational activities and support meaningful clinical and scholarly learning opportunities.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and communicate significant fellow performance or educational concerns to the Fellowship Program Director.
  • Foster a professional learning environment that promotes clinical excellence, patient safety, quality improvement, professionalism, scholarly activity, and fellow well-being.
  • Collaborate with fellowship leadership, faculty, and clinical leadership to support continuous improvement of the educational experience.
  • Assist with program evaluation, accreditation activities, and compliance with applicable institutional and fellowship program requirements.
