About The Position

CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions. This position will be part-time, at one day per week.

Requirements

PhD in a relevant field, or equivalent experience in government, journalism, or business.
Demonstrated expertise on area of focus.
Applicants must possess a strong record of professional achievement.
Strong research, writing, and speaking skills.

Experience mentoring junior staff preferred.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the planning, discussion, and written summary of an off-site retreat session for the UN Secretary-General's new team at Pocantico.
Research and write op-eds, articles, reports, and other works, including on humanitarian aid and U.S. foreign assistance, as well as exploring private sector partnerships in crisis response operations.
Work with the vice presidents of Studies and development to identify, as appropriate, potential sources of funding for your area of work.
Conduct promotional and outreach efforts on behalf of all the work you do at the Council, including with Congress, the Executive and international organizations, as appropriate and as mutually agreed.
Contribute to CFR’s other substantive content in fulfillment of Building One CFR, as mutually agreed. This includes, but is not limited to: giving interviews and/or participating in podcasts, videos, interactives, and press briefings; participating in CFR Academic, Corporate, Development, HR, Meetings, National, and Washington Program meetings and events; working with the Education Department on projects including but not limited to Model Diplomacy and World 101; consulting with CFR.org's editor on coverage of your subject area; and working with other senior staff, depending on the nature of the work.
