About The Position

The Feedmill Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating Feed Mill equipment to receive ingredients and manufacture quality feed according to Company specifications in a timely manner. This role also involves assisting fellow employees with safety, productivity, housekeeping, and addressing minor mechanical issues. The position operates batching, grinding, mixing, crumbling, and pelleting machinery, maintaining proper operational parameters and quality standards. The operator will work with computer equipment, graphics, and automation within the main control area, specifically using the WEM automation control system for batching and pelleting. Responsibilities include training co-workers, understanding production scheduling and receiving, maintaining feed quality, taking physical inventory, developing knowledge of equipment, troubleshooting basic maintenance issues, performing warehousing tasks, and ensuring a clean and safe plant operation. The role may involve physical demands such as shoveling, handling 55 lb. bags, working in hot/cold and dusty environments, and occasionally using a forklift. The operator must possess basic math skills and be able to read, write, and communicate in English, working mostly independently with minimal supervision. Other tasks may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Operate batching, grinding, mixing, crumbling and pelleting machinery, maintain proper amps, temp, oil levels, and quality.
  • Operate all computer equipment, graphics and automation within main control area.
  • Operate WEM automation control system on full time basis to batch and pellet all feed.
  • Train co-workers and new employees.
  • Be familiar with production scheduling and receiving.
  • Maintain quality of feed made and loaded out.
  • Take physical inventory of feed and ingredients.
  • Develop a working knowledge of equipment operated.
  • Able to troubleshoot/diagnose/resolve basic maintenance issues.
  • Perform warehousing as needed or directed.
  • Perform housekeeping to ensure clean and safe plant operation.
  • Shoveling, handling 55 lb. bags, working in hot/cold and dusty environment.
  • Occasionally use forklift to unload pallets of feed ingredients from van trailers.
