About The Position

Performs various tasks under supervision to assist in the everyday operations of the feedlot by performing the following duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situation.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the receiving operation by branding, tagging, vaccinating, and sorting cattle.
• Cleans pens, scales, feed bunks, feed troughs, and water troughs to remove dust and sand particles in order to ensure healthy feeding facilities.
• Assists cowboys by opening gates and gathering livestock to scales, pens, trucks, and holding areas according to instructions.
• Makes routine repairs and performs general maintenance duties in the feedlot.
• Performs other duties as instructed by supervisor.
