About The Position

The Feed Mill Utility Laborer acts as a backup for various operational roles within the feed mill, including receiving, warehouse, and control operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality of all products, operating automated systems, maintaining warehouse organization, and safely handling railcars. The role also includes performing daily housekeeping to ensure the cleanliness and efficiency of the feed mill.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and use basic mathematics.
  • Some computer skills are required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions and policy/procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Climb ladders.
  • Work at heights up to 200 ft.
  • Operate pallet jack.

Nice To Haves

  • Class B license is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a backup for the receiving/warehouse operator and control operator.
  • Operate automated receiving, batching, and pelleting systems.
  • Organize the feed mill warehouse.
  • Safely operate the locomotive used to move railcars.
  • Perform QA assurance of all bulk, bagged, and liquid products received, and finished feeds produced.
  • Complete daily housekeeping tasks and ensure cleanliness of all areas of the feed mill.
  • Ensure proper product storage in designated places.
  • Rotate stock in compliance with the warehouse rotation policy.
  • Unload bulk, liquid, and warehouse trucks, and rail cars and unit trains as needed.
  • Operate pelleting, grinding, and batching equipment as needed.
  • Obtain forklift license, weighman’s license, and Trac Mobile certification.
