About The Position

This position provides current students and community members with access to a state-of-the-art Fitness Center offering a wide range of athletic equipment and activities for all fitness levels. This role is exclusively for Student Workers and requires availability between 3 to 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Must be a current degree-seeking student enrolled in at least 6 credits.
  • Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Must be eligible to receive FWS based on financial need and eligibility requirements determined by FAFSA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, students, and support staff.
  • Demonstrate communication skills and ability to work effectively with the public.
  • Ability to defuse anger and resolve complaints/issues.
  • Ability to work independently, consistently follow administrative procedures, and explain procedures to those unfamiliar with them.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processors, and similar office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an information resource for inquiries regarding facility classes, activities, procedures, and policies from students, the public, and college personnel.
  • Greet visitors and answer telephone calls.
  • Operate the front desk to regulate facility access.
  • Handle diverse customer situations, employing tact, diplomacy, and patience to de-escalate issues with irate or angry customers, both in person and over the phone.
  • Perform filing and clerical tasks as required.
  • Clean equipment and the facility as needed or instructed.
  • Check out equipment to users.
  • Inventory and maintain equipment.
  • Open or close the facility, including all related duties.
  • Clean work areas at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and orderly work and service area.
  • Ensure a high level of security for the facility.
  • Perform other related duties to the maintenance of the department.
