Federal Work Study Library Assistant
About The Position
The John M. Lilley Library at Penn State Behrend is seeking applicants for federal work study student library assistant positions for the fall 2026/spring 2027 semesters. This position plays an essential role in maintaining appropriate staffing levels during the library’s hours of operation, ensuring the continued integrity of the library’s collections and facilitating patrons’ access to the library’s resources and services. This position utilizes and develops the following skills: customer service, communications, teamwork and collaboration, research and problem-solving.
Requirements
- Must have received a work-study award
- Strong commitment to teamwork
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Eligible for a Federal Work Study award
Responsibilities
- Assisting library patrons at the circulation desk
- Shelving library materials
- Maintaining the integrity of the library's collections
- Processing incoming/outgoing mail
- Providing basic reference services
- Assisting staff in other service areas of the library
