About The Position

VARITE is looking for a qualified Federal Telecommunications Engineer for one of its clients. The client is a global engineering, procurement, construction, and consulting company that provides infrastructure and energy solutions, specializing in sectors such as energy, water, telecommunications, and environmental services. VARITE, established in 2000, is an award-winning minority business enterprise providing global consulting & staffing services to Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies. This role is for a Federal Telecommunications Engineer with a duration of 06 months, located in Overland Park, KS/ Denver, CO/ Arlington, VA. The work mode is onsite, 5 days a week. The pay rate range is $50.00 - $56.48/hr on W2. This is a temporary to permanent position, and US Citizenship is required due to federal requirements.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (required)
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systems.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective.
  • Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivity.
  • Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systems.
  • Experience in audio-visual (AV) system design.
  • 4+ years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems.
  • Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Create conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications and design analysis deliverables.
  • Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production.
  • Perform quality control duties and independent technical reviews.
  • Manage assigned budgets, scopes and schedules.
  • Mentoring and providing guidance/instruction to less experienced staff members.
  • May perform fieldwork and write assessment reports.
  • May assist with creation of design guides and templates.
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
