About The Position

Michael Baker International is seeking a Federal Intern to join its team in the San Diego, California office. The intern will support a talented group working on projects by assisting with design, construction documents, plan production, mapping, reports, and other project documentation. The role also involves supporting land development drawings, project estimates, permit documentation, meetings, and occasional project site visits. The approximate compensation range is $20–$26 per hour; actual compensation depends on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

Requirements

Be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree-seeking program, majoring in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Have completed a minimum of two years of coursework toward the degree program.
Have strong technical and communication skills and a commitment to quality.
Have computer skills that include Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

Assist with design, construction documents, plan production, maps, basic reports, and other supporting documentation.
Gather project-site background information, including reviewing as-built plans and mapping existing utility service.
Learn and use CAD and Microsoft Office programs to produce design documents, exhibits, computations, and reports.
Assist with preparing drawings for land development projects.
Assist with quantity calculations and project cost estimates.
Coordinate with design technicians to support timely and accurate deliverables.
Assist with preparing documents for regulatory agencies to obtain required permits.
Assist with preparation for client and project meetings.
Attend internal project meetings and participate as necessary.
Occasionally visit project sites and report findings to Engineers and/or Project Managers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
