About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of marketing strategies that support the growth of departmental programs. The role involves developing and implementing messaging and timelines for marketing and event efforts, ensuring adherence to departmental and University branding guidelines. General office duties, event coordination, and the implementation of web technologies for the departmental website and social media sites are also key aspects of this role. The student will identify appropriate social media channels, tailor campaigns to target audiences, and track performance to improve goals and objectives. This is a student worker position at Texas A&M International University, within the Recreational Sports department, focusing on the Healthy U program.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduates' students.
  • Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent residence, or has an alien registration number, or an eligible non-citizen.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
  • Knowledge of adobe Photoshop and video editing software.
  • Knowledge of University policies as well as Recreational Sports guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants.
  • Must possess effective public speaking skills.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skill.
  • Knowledge of content management systems and design software.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
  • Promptly complete all required trainings.
  • Submit time sheet biweekly.
  • Undergraduate student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester of college-level courses or accepted remedial courses.
  • International undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours to meet the federal immigration guidelines.
  • Must maintain a 2.0 TAMIU overall GPA.
  • Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours per semester.
  • International graduate students must enroll in 9 semester credit hours in order to meet the federal immigration guidelines.
  • Must maintain a 3.0 TAMIU overall GPA.
  • Students who will be graduating may enroll for less than half time for their final semester.
  • Must submit proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies that support the growth of departmental programs.
  • Develop and implement messaging and timelines for all marketing and event efforts.
  • Ensure departmental and University branding guidelines are utilized.
  • Perform general office duties including answering telephones, typing, filing, photocopying, and assisting customers.
  • Assist with coordinating, setting up, and running Healthy U events.
  • Assist with implementation of web technologies to streamline processes, including the departmental website and social media sites.
  • Identify appropriate social media channels to expand Healthy U program awareness and tailor campaigns to the appropriate target audience.
  • Track performance of various social media initiatives and develop/implement changes to improve goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain certifications/licenses as terms of employment.
