About The Position

Genesis10 is seeking a Feature Lead / Tech Lead - Java for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution. This role focuses on leading the design, development, and delivery of complex features within a Java-based ecosystem. The ideal candidate will architect and build event-driven systems using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka, with a strong focus on microservices architecture, system reliability, and maintainability, while providing technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in backend development with Java
Deep expertise in Java (Java 17/21 preferred) and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data)
Proven experience in designing distributed systems, microservices architectures, and event-driven patterns
Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for building event-driven systems
Strong proficiency and experience with Oracle databases, including performance tuning and query optimization
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines
Strong knowledge of REST APIs, messaging systems, and asynchronous processing
Expertise in TDD/BDD practices and automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers)
Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and technical leadership skills

Responsibilities

Lead the architectural design and implementation of new features, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and maintainable
Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
Architect and build event-driven systems using Kafka
Take end-to-end ownership of the feature lifecycle, from requirements gathering and technical design to deployment and post-release monitoring
Drive technical standards by performing rigorous code reviews and implementing best practices
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
Optimize database interactions and schema design using Oracle
Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long-term fixes
