About The Position

The feather Process operator controls the cooking process from hydrolyzing the raw feathers to a finished product. This role involves operating a straight or articulated rubber tired tractor type vehicle equipped with a front mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage processing areas, and to feed cookers, hoppers, or chutes.

Requirements

• Must have 3 months of work history with one employer within the last 2 years listed on application
• State Driver License needed to obtain an industrial truck license (PIT)
• Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

• Hydrolyzing raw feathers
• Drying the raw feathers
• Sizing
• Running the Machinery that processes the cooked feathers into make feather meal
• Transferring of hydrolyzed feather meal to storage
• Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader
• Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front end loader forward to force bucket into bulk material
• Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle at work site, and moves levers to dump material
• Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
• Fills Feather Cooker’s and tightens the domes to ensure the materials cooks correctly
• Keep work area clean and free of clutter (housekeeping)
• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Using correct tool for each job assignment
• Report injury of oneself or coworker to management
• Report job hazards immediately (correct immediately when possible) and document
• Inspect all tools and materials for defects and safety issues
• Follow all safety rules and guidelines
