The Feather Process operator controls the cooking process from hydrolyzing raw feathers to a finished product. This role involves operating a straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with a front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop. The operator lifts and transports bulk materials to and from storage processing areas, feeding cookers, hoppers, or chutes. Key duties include hydrolyzing and drying raw feathers, sizing, running machinery to process cooked feathers into feather meal, and transferring hydrolyzed feather meal to storage. The operator starts the engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns the steering wheel to operate the loader, moving levers to manipulate the bucket for loading and dumping materials. Routine maintenance on the loader, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning, is also required. Additionally, the operator is responsible for filling feather cookers and tightening domes to ensure proper cooking. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
