About The Position

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Operates the cash register accurately, scans products, and handles transactions. Ensures the cleanliness of the store, maintains product quality and quantity, and manages supply needs for the store and pumps. This role is crucial in upholding Hy-Vee's promise of 'a helpful smile in every aisle' by engaging with customers and supporting colleagues.

Requirements

• Must be able to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
• Must be able to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn and use their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and relaying suggestions.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service.
• Works collaboratively with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
• Operates the cash register accurately, scans products, and manages cash drawer levels.
• Handles various payment transactions including promotional coupons, food stamps, cash, checks, and credit/in-store charges.
• Packages merchandise for customers and provides packages.
• Assists with inventory of the department.
• Receives and checks in delivered merchandise and stores it appropriately.
• Fills displays and stocks shelves.
• Maintains the cleanliness and safety of the lot, including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and hosing down the lot.
• Fills outside towel holders and replenishes window washer fluid.
• Removes trash from inside and outside the store in a timely manner.
• Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices.
• Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures, ensuring the work area is clean and neat.
• Cleans various areas including registers, restrooms, break rooms, and backrooms; sweeps and mops floors.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines for personal hygiene and dress.
• Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
• Orders merchandise and supplies as needed.
• Prices products for customers as necessary.
• Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
