About The Position

New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities. FASD Family Support is one of the many services offered by New Directions; it offers community-based services for families whose children and youth have challenges with development, learning, behaviour, or difficulty managing daily life tasks. The program uses a person-centered, culturally sensitive, trauma informed, attachment, and decolonizing approach, grounded in building relationships that foster the strengths of the individual, and the family in the context of the larger community. We are currently seeking a Clinical Lead to manage the provision of services and lead supervision to the team of Counsellors and Occupational Therapists. Responsibilities of the Clinical Lead include oversight of the day-to-day operations of the programs, facilitating planning for upcoming initiatives, program development, training, identifying gaps in services, program evaluation, reporting to funding bodies, engaging in community initiatives to serve individuals and families, experience writing funding proposals, and promotion of the program services. The Clinical Lead will liaise with the other service areas of New Directions, community resources and collaterals. Training for the successful candidate will commence immediately with a gradual shift of responsibilities and overlap with the current Clinical Lead who will be retiring from this position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working within the field of social services
  • Experience and knowledge in working with those living with FASD and their families is required.
  • An awareness of inter-generational trauma and the impact of colonization on Indigenous communities and people, cross-cultural factors and factors that contribute to the healing and recovery process
  • Experience working from trauma informed, attachment informed, and systemic perspectives
  • Experience working with families involved with multiple systems is also essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a dynamic team environment
  • Must supply a current driver’s abstract.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and membership in a professional body preferred. e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT), Occupational Therapy (OT)
