About The Position

The Farming Technician executes work plans for all aspects of trial & equipment maintenance activities including all field work and workshop duties. This role involves operating planting, tillage, and harvest equipment, assisting with equipment maintenance, operating proprietary software for data collection, and mixing and applying chemicals. The technician will also train seasonal workers, ensure work plans are executed on time, and adhere to safety policies. Travel on behalf of the business and meeting attendance requirements are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • One or more years of experience in agriculture or equivalent.
  • Experience working with agricultural pesticide applications.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving history.
  • Valid CDL license or ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire.
  • Have or be able to obtain Pesticide Applicator License within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to work variable hours as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with flexibility.
  • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • University Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in specific tasks being conducted by the research stations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the various groups and prioritize tasks for the best efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and complete projects working directly with project leads or managers.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with flexibility.
  • Experience working with regulated plant material.

Responsibilities

  • Operate planting, tillage, and harvest equipment including proprietary technology and hardware.
  • Assist with equipment and vehicle maintenance including fabrication and repairs.
  • Operate the required proprietary software for data collection and record keeping.
  • Operate commercial vehicles and forklifts.
  • Mix chemicals for pesticide applications.
  • Organize, direct and apply pesticides to field sites as needed.
  • Utilize spreadsheets to analyze work plans and make recommendations.
  • Train and provide work direction to seasonal workers and coordinate schedules as needed.
  • Ensure work plans are executed according to due dates and deadlines to ensure successful completion of trials.
  • Ensure Company handbook, Rules, Guidelines and Procedures and safety policies are followed and personal protective equipment is used correctly.
  • Travel and/or drive on behalf of the business.
  • Meet attendance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
