About The Position

Opal Foods is hiring a Farm Maintenance Technician at its Litchfield, Minnesota farm. The technician maintains equipment in the laying hen houses, keeping machinery safe and operating efficiently. The work takes place in a farm environment around live animals and dust. The role requires compliance with company policies and government regulations, including safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare requirements. Pay is determined based on relevant experience.

Requirements

Mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Previous experience troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and repairing industrial processing equipment.
Organized and detail oriented.
Must work some weekends.
Able and willing to work off-schedule shifts and/or nights when necessary.
Able to work in a farm environment around live animals and dust.
Able to lift fifty or more pounds on a regular basis and bend, lift, pull, push, stoop, and climb.

Three years of experience in maintenance-related roles.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair machinery and mechanical equipment, including electric motors, pneumatic systems, and conveyor systems, to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Perform preventive and urgent maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test equipment, and make adjustments.
Proactively resolve issues, including conducting root-cause analyses and implementing error-proofing controls related to downtime.
Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to perform duties.
Detect and report faulty operations, defective material, and unusual situations to the proper supervisor.
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Assist the Production Team with other projects and duties as needed.
