The Farm Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs physical structures of lagoons and sewer lines in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role involves learning and implementing biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety policies, including the Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS). The technician is responsible for environmental compliance, reporting any environmental issues immediately, and understanding the company's emergency notification process. Key tasks include unplugging, cleaning, and performing preventive maintenance on sewer discharge lines and equipment, using a sewer camera to identify blockages, and working in various weather conditions. The position requires the use of hand tools and participation in a 24-hour emergency call-out rotation, including weekends and holidays. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
