About The Position

Do Good Gardens is seeking an Indoor Farm Worker to grow fresh produce year-round using indoor farming techniques, including hydroponic and vertical farming. The role involves cultivating herbs, spices, and lettuce, monitoring plant health, operating irrigation systems, harvesting and preparing produce for distribution, and maintaining clean, food-safe workspaces. No experience is required; training in indoor farming is provided. The farm is located in New Britain, Connecticut. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with no weekends.

Requirements

No prior experience is required; training is provided.
Be willing to learn farming techniques and food safety practices.
Be reliable, arrive on time, and maintain a positive attitude.
Follow instructions carefully and notice small changes in plant health.
Work well with others.

Nice To Haves

Previous gardening, landscaping, or greenhouse experience.
Experience handling or packaging food in accordance with safety standards.
Familiarity with basic tools or equipment such as irrigation systems, lighting, or climate controls.
Background in warehouse, production, or other hands-on work requiring physical stamina.
Interest in or studies related to agriculture, sustainability, or environmental science.

Responsibilities

Seed herbs, spices, and lettuce in trays or hydroponic systems and transplant seedlings into growing units.
Check plants daily for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, and report issues.
Operate hydroponic or drip irrigation systems to deliver water and nutrients.
Remove unwanted growth, thin crowded plants, and prune herbs to support optimal yields.
Harvest lettuce, herbs, and spices at peak maturity while maintaining quality standards.
Clean and sort harvested produce and pack it for distribution to markets or restaurants.
Use farm machinery, lighting systems, and climate-control technology to maintain growing conditions.
Sanitize tools, trays, and workspaces to prevent contamination and ensure food safety.
