About The Position

Columbus House, Inc. is seeking Seasonal Part Time and Per Diem Family Triage Resident Support Specialists. This role involves providing residential supervision and oversight for family triage residents. The organization's mission is to serve people experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk by providing life-saving outreach, shelter and housing, and by fostering their personal growth and independence. Columbus House also advocates for and creates affordable housing to end homelessness in their communities.

Requirements

• Experience working with the homeless population, including those with substance abuse and mental health issues, is required.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to engage people from a variety of life backgrounds.
• Ability to employ Harm Reduction principles.
• Ability to understand Cultural Diversity principles.
• Ability to learn skills to perform in crisis intervention.
• Ability to learn computer skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
• Must be prompt and dependable.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide residential supervision and oversight for the family triage residents.
• Assist in admission/discharge process.
• Supervise chore assignments.
• Monitor client behavior and interactions.
• Complete hourly journal entries.
• Supervise and log self-administered client medications.
• Complete incident reporting.
• Record demographics.
• Perform crisis intervention.
• Complete other assignments as required.
