About The Position

Columbus House, Inc. is seeking a Family Triage Resident Support Specialist for seasonal part-time and per diem positions. The organization's mission is to serve people experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk by providing life-saving outreach, shelter and housing, and by fostering their personal growth and independence. They also advocate for and create affordable housing to end homelessness in their communities. This role involves providing residential supervision and oversight for family triage residents, assisting with admissions and discharges, supervising chore assignments, and monitoring client behavior and interactions. Duties include maintaining hourly journal entries, supervising and logging self-administered client medications, incident reporting, demographic tracking, crisis intervention, and other required assignments.

Requirements

Experience working with the homeless population, including those with substance abuse and mental health issues, is required.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential.
Ability to engage people from a variety of life backgrounds.
Ability to employ Harm Reduction principles.
Ability to understand Cultural Diversity principles.
Ability to learn skills to perform in crisis intervention.
Ability to learn computer skills.
Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
Must be prompt and dependable.
