In this role, you will support child welfare program caseworkers by actively participating in building meaningful person-centered relationships. Requirements

  • One year of experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs, or Possession of a current certification in child development, early childhood education, addiction counseling preparation or juvenile corrections, or 45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training, or An associate degree in a field not closely related to social work/human services and six months of human services-related experience (e.g., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.

  • Experience in engagement skills, including working effectively with unmotivated or unwilling clients, de-escalating hostile situations, and interacting professionally with the public, service providers, and clients in person, by telephone, and through written correspondence.
  • Experience preparing objective documentation and written correspondence for case workers and legal parties.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and Document Information: Collect and record information from the caseworker, children, parents, relatives, case providers, schools, and other relevant resources to plan family time visits.
  • Review Family Time Agreements: Meet with parents and caregivers to review family time agreements and guidelines, suggesting community resources as needed.
  • Supervise Family Time: Supervise family time in an office or community setting, documenting relevant information. This ensures the safety and well-being of the children during these interactions.
  • Transport Children: Assist with transporting children to family time visits and other necessary appointments.
  • Collaborate with Caseworkers: Work closely with caseworkers to assess the details of family time supervision. Recommend services needed for case planning and relay important information about the children and their families or caregivers.
