About The Position

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Family Time Coordinator (Social Service Assistant) | Bilingual English/Spanish required to join their dedicated Child Welfare (CW) team in Hillsboro. This position offers an opportunity to help families by ensuring they can spend quality time together, with unique and adaptable daily tasks. As an employee working within the Child Welfare Program, you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families, contributing to the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation to support children and young adults in achieving greater well-being. The role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with job offers contingent upon passing proficiency tests. This position may receive a 5% differential pay based on passing the required language test.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • One year of experience working in a human services or behavioral health setting; OR an associate degree in any field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and record information from caseworkers, children, parents, relatives, case providers, schools, and other relevant resources to plan family time visits.
  • Meet with parents and caregivers to review family time agreements and guidelines, suggesting community resources as needed.
  • Supervise family time in an office or community setting, documenting relevant information to ensure the safety and well-being of children during these interactions.
  • Assist with transporting children and parents/guardians to family time visits and other necessary appointments.
  • Work closely with caseworkers to assess the details of family time supervision, recommend services needed for case planning, and relay important information about the children and their families or caregivers.
