The Family Support Supervisor is a key donation advocate responsible for organ donation authorization rates by overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives of the Family Support Specialist team. This role involves training and ensuring the competency of the Family Support Specialist team, as well as obtaining authorization from potential donor families to choose the legacy of donation for their loved one. The position emphasizes high-caliber, compassionate, and collaborative family support, working closely with other Versiti OPO staff and hospital care teams to develop effective care plans and achieve goals. The supervisor is committed to outcome-oriented, family-centered care, optimizing the OPO’s opportunity to save lives. Versiti Organ and Tissue is a federally designated Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) supporting the transplant community in southeastern Wisconsin, prioritizing a family-centered process throughout end-of-life, donation, and bereavement. They educate the public and medical professionals about the need for organ and tissue donors and collaborate with Donate Life Wisconsin. The need for organ donation is significant, with over 100,000 Americans waiting for transplants, including over 2,000 in Wisconsin.
