About The Position

Family Support Specialists at A Blessing of Hope Family Services are passionate about making a difference in families' lives by working with kids and partnering with parents. The company is committed to reunifying families across Nebraska and empowering parents and children to thrive. This role requires individuals who are positive, compassionate, and driven to help families in need, within a supportive and appreciative company culture. The Family Service Specialist will supervise visits in the client home and community during evenings (2pm-8pm) and regularly on at least one weekend day each week. The families served have had children removed from the home and placed into the child welfare system due to allegations of abuse and/or neglect. During supervised visits, the specialist will provide engaging parenting skills assistance, help strengthen family bonds, and offer in-the-moment redirection and parent coaching to promote safe and successful reunification. The role involves advocating for families, setting goals with caseworkers and families, documenting progress, reporting concerns of alleged abuse/neglect, testifying in court as needed, and providing transportation for children and families.

Requirements

  • Reliable Transportation to safely transport children and meet families.
  • Valid insurance and drivers license required.
  • Clear Communication and strong documentation skills.
  • Positive Rapport with families to build trust and provide meaningful support.
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years old.
  • Clear criminal history and a driving record with no more than three points assessed.
  • Strong written communication skills for accurate and unbiased documentation, as well as excellent verbal communication skills via phone and email.
  • Driver's License (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Support Family Goals: Work closely with families and the Department of Health and Human Services to help them reach goals set by their caseworker.
  • Visit Facilitation & Transport: Facilitate visitations between children and their families, providing safe and reliable transportation to and from visits.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and unbiased reports of each visit.
  • Resource Assistance: Help families find and apply for resources that support their path to reunification and well-being.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and motivation to achieve goals set by DHHS and the court.
  • Supervise the protection and safety of child and adult participants.
  • Maintain consistent and open communication with DHHS and your manager about your work with the families.
  • Build great rapport with the families we serve.
  • Ensure professional working relationships are created with families within your scope of duties and training.
  • Submit written incident reports within 24 hours and submit service documentation and mileage for all cases within 36 hours of providing the service with families.
  • Transport children and families to and from visitations.

Benefits

  • Starting at $25 per hour
  • Mileage Reimbursement: 30 cents per mile
