About The Position

Family Support Specialists at A Blessing of Hope Family Services are passionate about making a difference in families' lives by working with children and partnering with parents. The role involves supervising visits in client homes and communities during evenings and weekends. Families served have had children removed from their homes due to allegations of abuse and/or neglect. During supervised visits, specialists provide engaging parenting skills assistance, help strengthen family bonds, and offer in-the-moment redirection and parent coaching to promote safe and successful reunification. Specialists also act as advocates, setting goals with caseworkers and families, documenting progress, reporting concerns of abuse/neglect, testifying in court, and providing transportation for children and families.

Requirements

  • Reliable Transportation to safely transport children and meet families.
  • Valid insurance and drivers license required.
  • Clear Communication and strong documentation skills.
  • Positive Rapport with families to build trust and provide meaningful support.
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years old.
  • Clear criminal history and a driving record with no more than three points assessed.
  • Strong written communication skills for accurate and unbiased documentation, as well as excellent verbal communication skills via phone and email.
  • Driver's License (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, etc).
  • Prior experience working with kids, crisis intervention and conflict resolution, and knowledge of child development and the child welfare system.

Responsibilities

  • Support Family Goals: Work closely with families and the Department of Health and Human Services to help them reach goals set by their caseworker.
  • Visit Facilitation & Transport: Facilitate visitations between children and their families, providing safe and reliable transportation to and from visits.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and unbiased reports of each visit.
  • Resource Assistance: Help families find and apply for resources that support their path to reunification and well-being.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and motivation to achieve goals set by DHHS and the court.
  • Supervise the protection and safety of child and adult participants.
  • Maintain consistent and open communication with DHHS and manager about work with families.
  • Build great rapport with the families served.
  • Ensure professional working relationships are created with families within the scope of duties and training.
  • Submit written incident reports within 24 hours and submit service documentation and mileage for all cases within 36 hours of providing the service with families.
  • Transport children and families to and from visitations.
