About The Position

The Family Support Partner (FSP) must be a parent/caregiver of a child who has received services, demonstrating firsthand experience within the child-serving system(s). The FSP works within the High Fidelity Wraparound principles. The FSP must be nationally credentialed, or working toward national credentialing, as a Parent Support Provider to certify ability in working with caregivers, parents, and families who have children transitioning back to the home from out of home placement or those that are at risk of being removed from the home. The FSP will also participate in community meetings to serve as a conduit of the Wraparound process and share the ongoing success and challenges of NC Wraparound with the community at large.

Requirements

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited university and one year of experience working with the target population; or associate’s degree in a human service field from an accredited school and two years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth; or high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth.
Must have lived experience as a primary caregiver for a child who has/had mental health/substance use disorder or intellectual/developmental disability and experience in navigating the child and family-servicing systems.
Holds National Credentialing as a Certified Family Peer Specialist (CFPS™) or becomes credentialed as a CFPS within 18 months of hire date.
Applicants must have direct lived experience as a full-time parent or caregiver of a child or children who have been or are currently involved in mental health services and/or the juvenile justice system.
Experience supporting a child with IDD and mental health needs, or IDD and juvenile justice involvement, may also qualify.
Examples of qualifying lived experience: Parent, legal guardian, custodial grandparent, or relative who has provided full-time, ongoing care for a youth living with them who has been involved in the systems described above.

Nice To Haves

Examples that do not meet the lived-experience standard: Part-time or intermittent caregiving for a youth experiencing challenges.
Providing care for a brief period, such as 3–6 months.
Assisting or “helping out” other family members with a youth experiencing difficulties or challenges.
Foster parents or individuals providing paid respite care to youth receiving services.

Responsibilities

Serve as a conduit of the Wraparound process in community meetings.
Share the ongoing success and challenges of NC Wraparound with the community at large.
