About The Position

This role provides direction, leadership, and support to staff within their team for professional and integrated services delivery, ensuring adequate support and staff training/development. The Team Leader will use their child welfare experience to assess strengths and risks associated with supported connections, determining the necessary level of intervention or support for each family. The Family Strengthening program focuses on keeping children in foster care connected to their families through meaningful family time and supported visits. It offers families support, constructive feedback, and assistance in parental skill development and family education programs based on assessed needs. Ongoing evaluation of family strengths and risks is crucial for providing adequate support and education. The agency, Xyólheméylh, emphasizes cultural integration through its Elders Advisory Council, upholding its goals, mission, and values in a respectful manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Child and Youth Care or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in a related human services field is preferred, however significant cultural knowledge, ability to develop or has already developed respectable relationships with Stó:lō Indigenous communities and equivalent combination of education and personal experience may be accepted.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in developing strong working relationships with children, families, Indigenous communities, foster parents, biological parents, and other FVACFSS employees.
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in developing contractual arrangements with clients, caregivers, and other professionals.
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in balancing competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in working under pressure.
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in writing concise reports to various audiences.
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in representing and promoting FVACFSS.
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in conducting investigations, completing assessments, developing work plans, implementing plans and evaluating intervention success.
  • Professional commitment, flexibility, good problem solving and dispute resolution skills.
  • Computer literacy on databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer software.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (no restrictions).
  • Reliable transportation with adequate vehicle insurance.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal records check.
  • Familiarity with and compliance with confidentiality expectations as outlined in the Agency’s Human Resources Policy Manual and other policies and operational manuals, AOPSI and the B.C. Child, Family and Community Services Act.
