About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. The role involves ensuring the accountability and security of cashier funds, maintaining the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise, and assisting customers in locating items and explaining store policy. The position also assists employees in resolving routine problems and performing special assignments, and assumes the responsibilities of the Family Store Manager as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.
One (1) year working in a retail store, preferably a Salvation Army store with some experience supervising the work of co-workers, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

Assists the Family Store Manager in supervising the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse area.
Trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures.
Monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
Supervises and participates in cashier activities, ensuring polite and friendly customer service.
Assists Store Clerks in ringing-up, recording, and receipting sales.
Assists Store Clerks in resolving problems.
Ensures the security and accountability of cashier funds.
Assists in preparing daily sales reports and bank deposits.
Assists customers in locating items and prices.
Assists customers donating items and explains store policy.
Supervises and participates in maintaining store displays, ensuring items are arranged, rotated, and re-stocked for customer convenience and store attractiveness.
Determines appropriate prices for merchandise, ensuring quick turnover while maintaining fair prices.
Detects merchandise that is not moving and reduces prices accordingly when necessary.
