About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. The role involves ensuring the accountability and security of cashier funds, maintaining the neatness and attractiveness of store merchandise, and assisting customers. The clerk will also assist employees in resolving routine problems and performing special assignments, and may assume the responsibilities of the Family Store Manager as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.
One (1) year working in a retail store, preferably a Salvation Army store.
Some experience supervising the work of co-workers.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.

Responsibilities

Assists the Family Store Manager in supervising the day-to-day operations of the Family Store and warehouse area.
Trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures.
Monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
Supervises and participates in cashier activities, ensuring polite and friendly customer interactions.
Assists Store Clerks in ringing-up, recording, and receipting sales.
Assists Store Clerks in resolving problems.
Ensures the security and accountability of cashier funds.
Assists in preparing daily sales reports and bank deposits.
Assists customers in locating items and prices.
Assists customers donating items.
Explains store policy and ensures compliance with the same.
Supervises and participates in maintaining store displays, ensuring they are well-stocked, neat, and orderly.
Determines appropriate prices for merchandise to ensure quick turnover and fair pricing for The Salvation Army.
Reduces prices on merchandise that is not moving when necessary.
Supervises the unloading of incoming donations in the warehouse.
Ensures items are properly sorted, stocked, and/or discarded according to policies.
Inspects appliances and furniture for needed repairs.
Supervises and assists in performing repair work.
Supervises and assists in bailing clothes.
Prepares, maintains, and files various store reports, records, and forms, including community service records.
Ensures the accuracy and completeness of reports and records.
Assumes additional responsibilities in the absence of the Family Store Manager.
