About The Position

Scope of Position: The Family Services Receptionist is responsible for answering and routing phone calls; providing information and referrals to clients as needed; enter and tracking in-kind donations in the “Others” database; assisting in food bank and seasonal programs as needed. Working Conditions: This position may have frequent phone and in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated. This position will work with minimum supervision and that work involves a high volume of customers coming in and out. This position has access to confidential and private information. It is essential that confidentiality and privacy be observed. Miscellaneous: The candidate chosen for this position will be required to pass a criminal history information check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude employment. The circumstances involved in the conviction(s) will be considered. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. Requirements

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate with general public in a courteous manner.
  • Experience with a multi-line phone system.
  • Proficient with software computer programs including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet.
  • Type 40 words per minute.
  • Able to address multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Responsive, detail oriented.
  • Ability to take projects from beginning through completion.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule.
  • Must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminished performance.
  • Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs. for short distance.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist body, stand for short/long periods of time, kneel, push, pull, have sense of touch, reach, grasp with hands and fingers, climb stairs, hear, identify colors, have close vision, have finger dexterity, speak and read, exposure to inside and outside temperate extremes, and working in noisy areas, exposure to dust, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer screen.
  • High School diploma required, or GED equivalency required

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones take messages and route phone calls from a multi-line phone system.
  • Greet clients/households.
  • Complete initial intake for assistance.
  • Refer clients/households to appropriate agencies for assistance.
  • Receive monetary/in-kind donations and provide donors with donation receipts.
  • Enter and track in-kind donations in the “Others” database.
  • General filing and record keeping.
  • Other duties as assigned.
