About The Position

The Family Services Director, under the supervision of the AED, Child, and Family Services, is responsible for implementing and assessing the Health, Family, and Community Partnership services areas. This role provides services that build on child and family strengths and support school readiness goals and success in life. The supervisor directs and supervises Family Services Advocates and Home Visitors. The position requires the ability to direct others' work, facilitate meetings, relate effectively with diverse socio-economic individuals and groups, model professional responsibility and personal integrity, and function in an environment of site-based management. Flexibility is needed for evening or weekend meetings or events. The role is responsible for incorporating the Y in Central Maryland’s mission, vision, values, and philosophies into daily work and demonstrating a positive attitude and commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and assess Health, Family, and Community Partnership services.
  • Provide services that build on child and family strengths and support school readiness goals.
  • Direct and supervise Family Services Advocates and Home Visitors.
  • Incorporate the Y in Central Maryland’s mission, vision, values, and philosophies into daily work.
  • Plan and formulate policies and activities for health and family services goals.
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and motivate Family Service Advocates and Home Visitors.
  • Hold associates accountable for their job duties and address performance issues.
  • Provide positive leadership and management to associates.
  • Establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships.
  • Facilitate resolving conflicts among associates, families, and community members.
  • Serve as a resource for associates and encourage team development.
  • Participate in the analysis of community needs assessment.
  • Collaborate and design professional development for Family Service Advocates and Home Visitors.
  • Ensure Family Service Advocates determine individual family needs and develop plans.
  • Facilitate parent involvement in program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Initiate mental health referrals, obtain parental consent, and orient parents to services.
  • Review and verify eligibility documentation for prospective children and families.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to inform families about the Head Start program.
  • Ensure community outreach to inform families about program availability and services.
  • Ensure the review and implementation of the ERSEA plan.
  • Participate in the placement of children.
  • Develop parent engagement based on families’ Strengths and Needs Assessments.
  • Use the program database to monitor data, create reports, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Collect and analyze parent engagement data and maintain records.
  • Participate in the Annual Self Assessment and completion of PIR.
  • Establish and maintain a calendar of parent activity projects and meetings.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local guidelines and policies.
  • Attend and participate in associate meetings and professional development activities.
  • Remain abreast of health, nutrition, and social services changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth.
