About The Position

Under general supervision of the Family Community Program Coordinator, develop, coordinate and implement a community outreach program that includes community/business/schools partnerships and mentoring opportunities that link our community to our students and parents. Collaborate with other child development facilities to increase resources available and increase parent involvement. Ensure that program services are provided to families by linking families with the services of Health, Disabilities, Nutrition, Social Services and Mental Health activities of the program.

Requirements

  • Training, experience, and skills in assisting the parents of young children in advocating and decision-making for their families.
  • Training and experience in field(s) related to social, human, or family services.
  • Knowledge and experience in child development and early childhood education; the principles of child health, safety, and nutrition; adult learning principles; and family dynamics
  • Skilled in communicating with and motivating people
  • Exceptionally strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate creativity, flexibility and comfort in working within the community.
  • Knowledge of effective team building strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of community resources and program that serve the needs of children and their families.
  • Ability to compose clear, complete and concise correspondence and reports independently using correct grammar, syntax, punctuation and spelling.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally in large and small group settings.
  • Knowledge and ability to use word processing, databases and spreadsheet software programs to develop and produce correspondence, reports, publications, presentations and projects.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff and clients.
  • Maintain acceptable work habits (attendance, punctuality, time management, teamwork, etc.).
  • Travel to homes, community, or other work related sites.
  • Graduate from high school and minimum of one year experience in Child Development, Social Services or related program such as community-based social services organizations or pre-school programs.
  • Employee must complete an agency sponsored family development certification within 18 months of hire or provide documentation of similar certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
  • Pediatric First Aid Certification and CPR desired.
  • Valid California Driver’s license.
  • Department of Justice/FBI/ Child Abuse Index Clearance prior to hire, Megan’s Law Clearance.
  • TB Test & Physical required upon hire
  • Current MMR and Tdap Immunizations.
  • Current Influenza Immunization or wavier of decline.
  • Employee must arrange their own transportation.
  • If using own vehicle in the course of employment, must have proof of current auto insurance.

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, cultivate and sustain an extensive network of partnership with local and regional businesses, industry representatives, community organizations, and community resource/service providers to build capacity for mentoring, internships, opportunities and business-education collaboration.
  • Recruits and enrolls children into the Head Start program.
  • Orients parents to the goals and objectives of the program.
  • Serve as a liaison between El Concilio and the community in order to increase community partnerships/participation at our child development facilities.
  • Maintain and distribute a database of partnerships
  • Link students and their families to existing programs.
  • Recruit, train and match mentors/business partners with appropriate students/schools.
  • Generate community awareness of community/school partnerships.
  • Coordinate specific projects/meetings of site Parent Groups
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and practices of early childhood programs, family support, parent involvement, and community services.
  • Assist with meeting requirements of federal and state contracts and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
