About The Position
This is a heartwarming opportunity for compassionate providers who love making a difference! We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible. A family in Eau Claire is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and energetic respite care provider to support three young boys and provide meaningful relief for the family. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children with special needs, creating engaging activities, and building positive, trusting relationships in a supportive home environment. The position will begin with flexible, hourly care provided in the family’s home, allowing the children and provider time to build comfort, consistency, and connection. As the relationship develops, the role is expected to expand to include overnight respite care provided in the caregiver’s home.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle
- Auto insurance
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to Pass a Caregiver/Criminal Background Check
- Patient, calm, and consistent.
- Able to manage behaviors as they arise without raising their voice or becoming overwhelmed.
- Physically active and attentive, able to keep up with multiple children at one time.
- Experienced in childcare.
- Strong communicator who can collaborate with the parent on routines and expectations.
- Understanding of child development, non-verbal communication styles and behavioral needs.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children, behavioral support needs, or respite care is strongly valued.
- Separate sleeping arrangements for the boys are a plus (not required).
Responsibilities
- General supervision of three young boys.
- Ensuring the safety of the children.
- Assisting with meals.
- Supporting bedtime routines.
- Providing light personal care related to toileting (one child wears pull-ups, another may need assistance with "Number 2").
- Creating engaging activities.
- Building positive, trusting relationships.
- Providing meaningful relief for the family.
