About The Position

Akin seeks a Family Resources Coordinator (FRC) to provide critical support and service coordination for children that have identified delays through the Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) program. FRCs ally closely with caregivers to understand their strengths, hopes, and needs; help develop a child-focused treatment plan and ensure its implementation with home visits; and advocate for families’ well-being by connecting them to other community services as needed. This position has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of early childhood development, with a demonstrated ability to foster relationships with parents, infants, and toddlers
  • Knowledge of local and statewide family resources
  • Knowledge of social justice and racial equity concerns that affect Washington State families and experience interacting with diverse populations
  • Able to effectively communicate; has the skills and abilities to develop and maintain good public relations among clients, volunteers, other personnel, and the public
  • Warm and compassionate approach with the ability to establish rapport and provide emotional support to families
  • Exceptional people and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Comply with all Akin policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with or interest in the principles of accessibility, inclusion, and belonging; and experience working successfully with colleagues, clients, or communities from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated openness to learning and contributing to an inclusive workplace environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in working or volunteering in the field of social services or early intervention, preferably with home visitation, or equivalent life experience interacting with and supporting children and parents with identified delays
  • Maintain current certifications including Pediatric/Adult CPR, First Aid/AED, and HIV/Bloodborne Pathogens
  • A valid driver's license and a favorable driving record, with no more than three violations within the past three years

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Social Services or Early Learning
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Assists families in identifying their children’s strengths and needs in order to develop their Individualized Family Service Plan (ISFP), and facilitate their scheduling, development, and review of the ISFP. Completes monthly check-in calls with families and maintain complete documentation of the child’s case records
  • Partners with families to support their understanding of their rights, ESIT services, and any relevant procedural safeguard
  • Works with referring agencies in the development and implementation of individual treatment plans for assigned cases, including ongoing communication of critical case events and 6-month reviews. Assumes responsibility for communicating this information to the appropriate family/caregivers, DSHS, and other service providers and coordinate with Akin program staff for implementation
  • Provides care and program planning, coordination, anticipatory guidance for complex community, resource development, inter-agency communication, quality management, and administration to support Medicaid programs
  • Organizes and participates in family events and parent meetings
  • Provides support to other program staff as needed, including participating in case review, staff, administrative, and other team meetings
  • Maintains relationships with social service agencies and family service providers in the community so that outside referrals can be made in a timely manner as needed
  • Participates in ongoing, job-related professional development opportunities, in-service trainings, and continuing education (e.g., Child Abuse Awareness, HIPAA, antiracism, etc.)
  • Regularly assesses own performance for improvement
  • Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor and/and leadership to help ensure efficient and effective operations
