About The Position

The Family Resource Specialist provides employment and vocational services to help participants obtain and retain employment. This role includes assessment, career counseling, case management, job search assistance, group facilitation, and ongoing retention support.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience assisting individuals in obtaining and retaining employment
  • 1 year of experience in assessing vocational skills, interests, aptitudes, and abilities
  • Skilled in preparing written evaluation reports and documentation
  • 1 year of experience in networking and collaborating effectively with community partners and service providers
  • Skilled in developing individualized participant plans and providing case management services

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field
  • Knowledge of human services programs

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement program rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Meet expected program outcomes and performance benchmarks
  • Collect and maintain required participant documentation
  • Seek guidance from supervisor as needed
  • Collaborate with internal staff, Human Services, and community partners to support employment and training goals
  • Conduct program orientations and participant interviews
  • Assess participant needs, strengths, and goals using established tools
  • Develop individualized employment plans with clear goals and timelines
  • Provide career exploration using labor market information
  • Monitor participant progress and adjust plans as needed
  • Offer ongoing support, advocacy, and resource coordination
  • Assist with: Job search and application skills, Resume and interview preparation, Employment retention strategies
  • Facilitate individual and group-based employment services
  • Coordinate work experience and volunteer opportunities
  • Maintain accurate client data using systems such as WorkForce One, CSB, and THO
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with: Participants, Co-workers, County Human Services, Schools and community organizations
  • Establish partnerships with: Workforce Centers, Educational institutions, ABE, GED, ESL programs
  • Promote MVAC services within the community
  • Present to local schools, businesses, and youth groups (as applicable)
  • Participate in community groups with supervisor approval
