About The Position

Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is seeking a Family Preservation Worker to join their team in Burns Lake, BC. CSFS is a leader in Indigenous health and family services, with a focus on culture. This full-time position involves performing assessments, implementing goal plans, collecting data, and developing community programming. The role requires adherence to local, provincial, and federal laws and standards, including the Child and Family Services Act and Aboriginal Operational Procedures. The Family Preservation Worker will also educate staff from MCFD and other government agencies about the socio-economic conditions, cultural values, traditions, expectations, and aspirations of First Nation communities.

Requirements

  • Social Services Diploma with two years extensive experience
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments, implement goal plans and collect data and charting on progress
  • Develop community programming based on demonstrated need and program objectives as outlined in funding contracts, community plans and individual goal plans.
  • Provides services to clients supported by evidence, research and multidiscipline expertise on the wide range of health, social, and program specific issues related to health care services within First Nation communities and CSFS clinics.
  • Comply with local, provincial and federal government laws, standards and regulations (Child and Family Services Act, Aboriginal Operational Procedures and Standards Indicators)
  • Educates the staff of MCFD and other government agencies to: the socio-economic conditions, cultural values, traditions, expectations and aspirations of the parents, family and client community.
