About The Position

The Family Preservation Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and clinical supervision to a family preservation team. This role involves maintaining program fidelity to the selected evidence-based model by coordinating external training and supervision for team members, and ensuring all required certifications are up-to-date. The Clinical Supervisor acts as a liaison between Choices Behavioral Health Solutions and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS), managing program caseload sizes, and coordinating referrals and discharges with DCS Family Case Managers. The position requires providing individual and group supervision, ensuring services are delivered in a strength-based, family-centered, and culturally competent manner, monitoring clinical documentation, and ensuring compliance with DCS contract requirements. Essential duties include managing caseloads within financial and clinical parameters, balancing family needs with census expectations, ensuring team fidelity to the evidence-based model through training and supervision, working with evidence-based program representatives, managing internal data reporting for billing, and collaborating with other supervisors and leadership for continuous improvement. The role also includes completing other assigned duties to advance the mission of Choices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of master’s degree in social work or related human service field.
  • Current clinical license as one of the following: a) Licensed Clinical Social Worker, b) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, c) Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or d) Health Services Provider in Psychology.
  • Certified or working toward certification in the selected evidence-based program, facilitated by a properly credentialed organization so that fidelity can be maintained.
  • In-depth understanding of the Child Welfare system.
  • Experience with family therapy and trauma-informed care.
  • Three years of clinical/management experience in the human services field.
  • Demonstrated two or more years of clinical intervention.
  • Demonstrated skill in fiscal management activities, team building, and leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of and genuine respect for youth and adults with mental health issues and a firm commitment to empowering their families.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) a plus.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of residence and maintain auto insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to various internal and external audiences in person and through various electronic media.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, and clinical supervision to a family preservation team.
  • Maintains program fidelity to the selected evidence-based model by coordinating external training/supervision for team members and ensuring certifications are up-to-date.
  • Serves as liaison between Choices Behavioral Health Solutions and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS).
  • Tracks, monitors, and adjusts program caseload sizes.
  • Coordinates all referrals and discharges with DCS Family Case Managers.
  • Provides individual and group supervision to the family preservation team using required methods and tools for evidence-based model fidelity and DCS contract compliance.
  • Ensures family preservation services are delivered in a manner consistent with strength-based, family-centered, and culturally competent values.
  • Offers consultation and education to team members regarding the values of the model.
  • Monitors the timeliness and quality of clinical documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with all DCS contract requirements.
  • Manages caseloads for the family preservation team within established financial and clinical parameters.
  • Balances the needs of families served with census expectations when necessary.
  • Ensures family preservation team members maintain fidelity to the evidence-based model by scheduling training, following supervision protocols, and monitoring practice.
  • Works with evidence-based program representatives to ensure fidelity expectations and data collection protocols are followed.
  • Manages all internal data reporting requirements and ensures accurate information is provided for billing.
  • Works closely with other Clinical Supervisors, the Clinical Director, and Choices Leadership to continuously improve family preservation services and program systems/processes.
  • Completes other duties as assigned to advance the mission of Choices.
  • Provides individual supervision to each family preservation team member on a weekly basis, using prescribed supervision methods and tools.
  • Provides group supervision to the family preservation team on a monthly basis, using prescribed supervision methods and tools.
  • Maintains a supervision log for each family preservation team member, documenting all individual and group supervisory sessions.
  • Uses strengths-based supervision so each person supervised comes to know his/her own strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day-to-day work.
  • Ensures that each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Provides clear expectations for each supervised staff.
  • Addresses identified performance issues in a timely, consistent, and fair manner.
  • Completes annual performance evaluations and quarterly goal setting check-ins with assigned staff.
