About The Position

Provides general medical care and treatment to patients within the medical facility under the direction of a Physician. This role involves performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, obtaining medical histories, and developing comprehensive patient care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The provider will also educate patients on health and illness prevention, administer medications, suture minor lacerations, and maintain patient confidentiality. Responsibilities include participating in quality improvement activities, reaching targeted goals, and assisting with other duties as needed. The provider must maintain compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to OSHA and HIPAA.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a level of staff privileges at a Kentucky hospital approved by the CEO.
  • Must attend clinic and RHCA general staff and/or Committee meetings with a 75% attendance rate.
  • Must participate in all Quality efforts undertaken by the organization.
  • Must conform to the standards of care approved by the RHCA Board of Directors under the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Must meet/exceed the goals and targets established for the RCHA Quality Improvement Program.
  • Must bill for all services and supplies in a compliant manner.
  • Must cooperate with RHCA administration in achieving financial and patient care goals.
  • Must be a "Team" player, focusing on mission, working in and assisting in the development of a collaborative approach to the care of patients and providing quality medical care.
  • Must assist and be involved in projects and programs intended to improve services and the health status of residents.
  • CME programs chosen must reflect the needs of the physician, RHCA and the patients.
  • All personnel are expected to treat patients and each other in a respectful and courteous fashion.
  • Experience working within a primary care health system.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with community partners while affecting organizational change among providers, clinic staff and other administrative team members.

  • Doctorate in Medicine with a license to practice medicine, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner Licensure.
  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of Kentucky as a MD or APRN.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience providing patient care in a billable provider role preferred.
  • Must maintain current BLS or ACLS and DEA registration (as allowed).
  • Good conceptual skills and ability to synthesize multiple view-points into a common purpose.
  • Ability to assess, organize and plan; demonstrated skills in problem identification and problem solving.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and work independently under general direction.
  • Ability to function as a team member.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to take the initiative and provide leadership to enhance quality interactions with clients in the community.
  • Computer literate and capable of operating an EMR.
  • Proficient with MS office suite.
  • Constant interpersonal skills, teamwork, customer service, reading, speaking, writing and understanding English, and problem analysis.
  • Frequent creativity, mentoring, presentations/teaching.
  • Frequent decision making and independent judgment or action.

Responsibilities

  • Performs physical examinations and preventative health measures.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests.
  • Obtains medical history and records physical findings.
  • Conducts one-on-one patient teaching and education.
  • Discusses cases with physicians and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Submits health care plans and goals for review by the Medical Director.
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs and other forms of treatment.
  • Refers patients to other providers or specialized health resources.
  • Administers medications and injections.
  • Sutures minor lacerations.
  • Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments.
  • Educates patients on health and illness prevention.
  • Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs.
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Posts test and examination results.
  • Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains personal compliance with all RHCA policies and procedures (OSHA, HIPAA, Standing Orders, etc.).
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities and chart reviews.
  • Reaches targeted goals personally and for the organization.
  • Assists with other duties or in other departments as instructed by the CMO or CEO.
