This is a Full-Time Position. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for showing patients to the examination room and preparing them for the provider. They will record patients’ past medical history, vaccine status, vital statistics, and medication reconciliation. The role requires maintaining compliance within the department and clinic, as well as within state and federal regulations and policies. Responsibilities include managing phone calls, caring for instruments (cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing), participating in mandatory in-services and staff meetings, and following policies and procedures. The Medical Assistant will demonstrate knowledge of emergency preparedness and participate in drills, respecting patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. They will utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) appropriately, identify victims and reporting processes for abuse, and collect, label, and transport specimens. Proper techniques for setting up procedures and knowledge of emergency and routine equipment and procedures are essential. The role involves collaborating with patient care planning, actively participating in patient education, and assisting providers with special tests and procedures. The Medical Assistant will act as a resource person to other staff members, maintain positive and supportive behavior, and participate in process improvement teams. They will assess every patient for safety, medication dosage appropriateness, and other needs, acting as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and staff. Administering medication and performing treatments in accordance with standards of care, including translating medications into pediatric doses and using proper equipment for the patient’s size and age, is required. The Medical Assistant may float to other clinical departments as assigned and perform other duties as assigned.
