Family Peer Support Specialists engage, inspire, and encourage participants and their families, families of choice, and natural supports to support participants’ recovery plans. They provide supporters with information, education, and resources to help them support their loved one, whether the person lives independently or in the family home. As members of an integrated service team, they promote Telecare’s Recovery Culture, as defined by the Telecare Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS), recognizing, understanding, respecting, and integrating participants’ and supporters’ viewpoints and preferences into services and self-help programming. They also respond to behavioral-health emergencies using high-level engagement and de-escalation skills to support a least restrictive environment. This full-time role is based at Telecare Magnolia House–USC Campus in Los Angeles, California, a 16-bed crisis residential program providing short-term, 24/7 services for adults aged 18 and over. The program helps people in acute psychiatric distress avoid inpatient hospitalization, emergency services, and incarceration; regain stability in a safe, homelike environment; work toward longer-term recovery goals; and establish links to stable housing and ongoing treatment. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The expected starting wage is $23.00, with geographic differentials and starting pay commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
