As a Behavioral Health Homes (BHH) Family Support Specialist, you'll use your lived experience as a family member of someone who has received mental health services to provide hope, guidance, and support to families navigating behavioral health challenges. Working as part of a collaborative care team, you'll help families build natural supports, connect with community resources, and advocate for their children's needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Lived experience as a family member of someone who has received services for a mental health diagnosis and willingness to self-identify in this role.
- Strong communication, organization, advocacy, and teamwork skills.
Nice To Haves
- Current Maine OCFS Family Support Specialist certification preferred, or willingness to complete required CORE training and obtain certification within 9 months.
Responsibilities
- Build trusting relationships with families through peer support.
- Share your lived experience to inspire hope and recovery.
- Help families navigate behavioral health services and community resources.
- Collaborate with care teams to support children and families.
- Assist families in developing natural support systems.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation.
- Participate in team meetings and other duties as assigned.
